What happened to the blogger?
After setting up the blog, Brooke and Madison decided they would wait until we leave for our out west adventure before they start posting more. Our plan is to be in Denver next weekend, and then they will take over. Until then, here is a quick recap of their summer so far...visited the SC farm, where they got to ride their boy Charlie Brown and swim in the lake! They both just wrapped up a great week at camp - Brooke at a Garden Art Camp with a wonderful local artist and Madison at a horse camp with a super set of instructors! Now we are in DC for a few days while I attend a conference and they all play. Pretty nice life, I must say!!! Hope everyone else is doing well and having a nice summer.

What do you do?
For my summers, every summer we travel to different, amazing places. For me, this is normal, but sometimes I wonder what other people do over the summer. So, if you have any summer experiences, you can share them here, and each day I'll post up another one of people's stories, or one of mine. I know I would love to hear about summer experiences, because summer is an important part of the year(at least, it is to kids). ~Brooke
We are still waiting...
So far , summer has consisted of going to school (don't worry, not summer school), spending some quality time at good old Broadus Wood(Our Dads school). We have also spent some time in our downstairs art room working on creative, artistic, and beautiful crafts. Tomorrow my dad, my sister, and I are going to South Carolina to spend some time with the horses , especially Charlie Brown(Our horse).I love going to South Carolina because out there I can really be free and really be me. ~Madison
It's already Wednesday!
Where has the time gone? I feel like it's only been hours since I left school, but in reality it's been five days! However, I am enjoying summer, with nothing to do except curl up and read for 2 hours straight, or daydream about the trip ahead of us. We are going for three whole weeks, but don't think all that time is camping and hiking! A large part of it is driving, because we are traveling all over the USA. Some of the places we are going are The Grand Canyon(always exciting), Brice (When we went before, I loved it), and the best place you could be in summer time... Home! I say it's the perfect place because it's already suited to your needs, and there's no chance of running into a stranger on your way to the bathroom. After all, there's no place just like home! ~Brooke

Into the wild
When you think of the wild, you think of forests and jungles, and animals you normally only see in the zoo, and I agree with you. But I think there's also a different, milder type of wild. That kind of wild is in being outside, roasting marshmallows on an open flame, and sitting outside at night, just watching the stars. I think everyone loves that kind of wild, and thats why people say it's comforting to sit outside with your family, roasting marshmallows and singing off-key songs, and being perfectly content with the simpler pleasures of life. ~Brooke
Settling into summer
It's the 4th day since school got out, and I think everyone is enjoying it. I know I am. But there are times I miss school, with opportunities to hang out with your friends, learn new and exciting things each day, and have amazing, wonderful teachers who help and support you. Summer is great, and I love all the trips we go on,but I think school is full of wonderful opportunities to learn, give, and be given. ~Brooke
